A superb example of the make, retaining its unmistakeable taste characteristics, yet deepening and rounding them.
“It is a summer on Skye …”
Alt som ble sagt om Lagavulin 30 kan også sies om Talisker 30. Dette er aller første gang Talisker er tappet i denne alderen, og vi er så spente, så spente.
Destilleriets smaksnotater:
Appearance: Light gold with green lights. Fine beading.
Nose: Clean, clear and very pure, surprising for one so aged. Very accessible; no nose prickle. Immediately maritime; sea-air and salted fish, tarred rope and beaches, with resonant depth and complexity. Then, creamy brazil nuts, Highland toffee and an elusive fruitiness (fresh lychees) in the lingering embers of a peat fire. Becomes more robustly smoky and deep. Just a little water closes the nose, bringing up bonfire smoke and introducing more creamy-sweet toffee.
Body: Clean and soft.
Palate: A teasing interplay between dry and sweet. Shows great maturity. Easy to drink at natural strength: sweet start; rich, custardy, nutty flavours. Salty middle, then the smoke builds into heat, with the key-note Talisker chilli hit abundantly present. Everything becomes perfumed, hinting at dried sage and lavender. With water, elegance; the tongue tingles, and the chilli is reduced. Soft, but the smoke makes its presence felt early on. Some treacle, and a touch of dried fruit. Big and gentle, but no pushover.
Finish: Classic black pepper; long and warming.
